The application of the mechanism of counteraction to the influence of external and internal threats is characterized by important. The mechanism for countering threats to the financial security of a high-tech enterprise, unlike existing ones, combines a certain essence and hierarchical ordering of the influence of key external and internal threats, involves targeted tracking of changes in the operational environment, identification of the moment of occurrence of threats, prediction of possible results of their implementation, regulating the choice of the established option actions (adaptive, active and protective), control over security, result from the application of which is the rapid adaptation to possible changes, to neutralize the negative impact of and response to threats of action in order to maintain the necessary level of financial security enterprise. The results of the study can be used in the practical activities of enterprises in the high-tech sector of the economy
Vasil Franchuk Oleg Omelchuk Stepan Melnyk Mykhailo Kelman Oksana Mykytyuk Copyright (c) 2020 The Author(s). The sample size was 392, which shows that the results represent the whole populations. For data processing, factor analysis was chosen as a tool. The data factorability was assessed via Bartlett’s Test of Sphericity, Kaiser-Myer-Olkin (KMO) statistic, initial estimates of communality and the anti-image correlation matrix. The factors were extracted via principal axis factoring (PAF). The number of factors was determined by the scree plot/Kaiser’s rule and was equal to five in both cases. The results showed the for the young employees the essential values today are those connected to the personality trait. However, in five years, the essential values would be those that are linked to professional development.
Jelena Titko Anna Svirina Viktorija Skvarciany Inga Shina Copyright (c) 2020 The Author(s). However, it is not being followed by an increase in the transaction completion ratio, with a cart abandonment rate of up to 70 percent. This indicates that the transition from online purchase intention to actual purchase is not as simple as postulated in the theory of planned behaviour (TPB); yet, there are other factors moderating the conversion. Therefore, this study aims to develop a model analysing the moderating role of perceived transaction security and convenience in the relationship between online purchase intention and actual purchase. Model development was also motivated by critics regarding TPB’s robustness in explaining consumer purchase behaviour; therefore, this model is expected to enrich TPB by providing a more comprehensive picture in online purchase behaviour. The sample consisted of consumers who had shopped for retail products online. The proposed relationship was tested with partial least square method. Results showed that perceived transaction convenience has a positive and significant moderating effect, whereas perceived transaction security showed an insignificant moderating impact. This finding is noteworthy amid risky online purchase environment. Respondents’ characteristics and alternative payment methods might explain the insignificant moderation. As a practical implication, it is recommended that online retailers improve online transaction convenience to increase the conversion rate.
Ni Luh Putu Indiani Gabriel Aprinau Fahik Copyright (c) 2020 The Author(s). The population of the study contained students of universities in the North Region of Jordan. A total of 1320 questionnaires were administered to sample members, and 895 questionnaires were returned completed. Data analysis indicated a significant partial mediation of brand community in the effect of customer empowerment on customer satisfaction but not in the effect of customer engagement and customer loyalty.Interestingly, the results confirmed that employee engagement is more important for organisations to ensure customer loyalty. The effect of customer empowerment on customer satisfaction was mediated by the customer’s membership to the brand community. Thereupon, organisations should ensure put their customers’ engagement as a priority. Further research is required to investigate the predictability of both customer satisfaction and engagement using different samples from several settings.
Anber Abraheem Mohammad Copyright (c) 2020 The Author(s). This study aims to analyze whether the concept of innovative work behavior can mediate the relationship of person-job fit, person-organization fit and person-group fit to job performance. The study was conducted in the metal SME industry in Tegal Regency, with 256 respondents. Data collection tools use questionnaires and interviews. Data analysis is done with a structural equation model. Based on the results of the analysis, there is a positive relationship between variables. This illustrates that the challenges of SMEs in the future are to maintain the best human resources to remain committed to the organization. In maintaining its existence, alignment of individual values with work, organization and groups is the best tool to achieve goals through innovative changes in employee behavior, and also to lay a solid foundation in the recruitment and selection process of new employees that have the potential to increase job performance.
Emiliana Sri Pudjiarti Prihatin Tiyanto Priagung Hutomo Copyright (c) 2020 The Author(s). The simulation model reveals that significant distortions occur in accounting information due to the choice of depreciation period and methods. Using as benchmark ratios calculated applying accounting policy recommended in Business Accounting Standards a significant divergence between ratios has been found. This finding implies that ratios calculated using accounting rules allowable for Corporate Income Tax calculation can provide misleading information and lead to unsound financial management decisions.
Gintaras Černius Liucija Birškytė Copyright (c) 2020 The Author(s). Several factors were identified and their interactions with digital technologies within the production environments was analysed. These factors, from an organisational perspective were identified as critical to success in the quest to achieve Industry 4.0 compliance and digital transformation of the manufacturing operations of companies. They include: strategy, organisational fit, competitiveness, operations and human resources. A mixed methods approach was adopted for the research. It involved both the qualitative and quantitative methodological approaches. The qualitative aspect involved an extensive systematic review of relevant literature which was useful in developing the conceptual framework and identifying the relevant factors that enable the implementation of an efficient Industry 4.0 process management model in SMEs; the quantitative aspect involved the use of a survey questionnaire to collect data which was analysed using confirmatory factor analysis statistical approach to test the measures of the constructs in the proposed conceptual framework. The result from the statistical analysis shows the factors that in the conceptual model that were supported as being relevant in achieving an efficient process management model for successful implementation of Industry 4.0 concepts in Czech manufacturing SMEs. The research limitation is based on the fact that the SMEs covered in the quantitative aspect of the research are restricted to a particular geographical location – Czech Republic. It would be interesting to have similar studies conducted in other geographies for a comparative perspective. It contributes to the scientific and practical discourse on Industry 4.0 process management model implementation in SMEs by investigating the phenomenon through the production of credible scientific evidence.
Fortune Nwaiwu Meri Duduci Felicita Chromjakova Cathy-Austin Funke Otekhile Copyright (c) 2020 The Author(s). We combine financial data on MFIs that is available from the MIX Market database with original data on the gender composition of MFIs’ management team, who include board members, managers and loan officers. This original dataset of 223 MFIs is analyzed using Logit-Tobit regression models with return on assets (ROA) as the dependent variable and proportion of female board members, female loan officers and female managers as the main independent variables. We find that a higher proportion of female managers and female loan officers improve financial performance in microfinance, while a higher proportion of female board members does not. Our results indicate that a major contributor to the financial sustainability of microfinance institutions is having a higher rate of women in vital decision-making roles, especially lower level management positions.
Sigurdur Gudjonsson Kari Kristinsson Haukur Freyr Gylfason Inga Minelgaite Copyright (c) 2020 The Author(s). The aim of this study is to examine the impact of the growth of P2P lending on the growth of bank lending for micro, small and medium enterprises (MSME) and Non-MSME debtors. Separating the scale of the debtor is important, given the initial process of disruptive innovation of reaching areas that are not the incumbent’s main target. The examination was conducted in this study using panel data regression, whereby the examination was done in stages. This was an overall examination without differentiating between the regions, further examination conducted with more detail by separating between the loans inside and outside Java Island. This is because the economic structure in Indonesia is still dominated by the regions in Java, but FinTech is generally able to grow in areas with less developed local economies. The result of this study is consistent overall, Java and outside Java Island, as shows that the growth in P2P lending in Indonesia does not have a significant impact on the growth of bank loans for Non-MSME lending. However, it does have a negative impact on the growth of bank loans for MSME lending. This is in line with the entrant’s disruptive trajectory process by which the entrants enter the competition through an underserved market (niche markets) and not through the main target market of the incumbent (MSME).
Cliff Kohardinata Noorlailie Soewarno Bambang Tjahjadi Copyright (c) 2020 The Author(s). The data were collected using offline and online surveys to 206 leaders or founders of digital start-up companies spread throughout Indonesia. Then, the data were then analysed using the structural equation model. The research results revealed that a business model had a significant role in achieving sustainable performance. A business model needs to be supported by customer participation and innovation. Innovation was more influential compared to customer participation in achieving companies’ sustainable performance. The indirect effect of customer participation and innovation on sustainable performance through the business model was greater than the direct effect not through the business model. Alternatively, findings from the Wald test approved that investors’ perceptions as captured by the market’s performance are statistically related to market fundamentals, dividends policies and the recent financial crisis. Therefore, the study concluded that ASE’s investors adopt the view of Gordon (1962) and Lintner (1962) during the short-run. However, the study recommends further researchers to follow the study’s models to investigate the other variables, which are impacting investors’ perceptions, as well as examining the impact of financial crises in the decisions of dividends’ policies.
Mohammad Sami Ali Copyright (c) 2020 The Author(s). This study aims to propose a conceptual model about the nature of support needed by startups in order to survive in their initial stages by using the Penta Helix Framework. This study is a qualitative one using the Focus Group Discussion method, in which participants are made of six early stages technology-based startup founders and CEOs, who were gathered to conduct several discussions regarding the topics. Our results show that obstacles faced by startups include among other: difficulties in obtaining qualified yet affordable workforce in facing existing competitors, difficulties in increasing sales, difficulties in managing product development costs, no adequate support from the government, and ineffective incubation programs. A model that consists of lists of support that startups need, was depict as main contribution from the discussion, named Penta Helix support for startups. This model offers comprehensive practical guide for policy makers to support startups from five perspectives.
Kiki Sudiana Erni Tisnawati Sule Imas Soemaryani Yunizar Yunizar Copyright (c) 2020 The Author(s). In this study a total of 100 managers of manufacturing firms in Kosovo from public and private sectors have responded to the survey. The survey questionnaire had contained 39 items covering selected HRM practices and organizational performance. Our empirical results show that managers of manufacturing firms in Kosovo recognize the importance of employees in their organization and apply practices to manage them effectively. The outcome of correlation analysis provides evidence that HRM practices positively and significantly influence organizational performance. Recruitment and selection practices show the strongest positive association with organizational performance (rho = 0.905) compared to other practices. Regarding to our findings we suggest that with a good recruiting and selection, the organization will fill with a group of potentially qualified candidates. Also, companies should continuously train and develop and involve their employees as they are viewed as the most important resources source of competitive advantage.
Arta Jashari Enver Kutllovci Copyright (c) 2020 The Author(s). Further, financial inclusion is closely related to fintech. On the one hand, fintech helps overcome the financial inclusion problem because fintech manages to reach those who were previously inaccessible by banks. On the other hand, fintech will change the payment system structure in an economy that will eventually affect the effectiveness of monetary policy. Using the Vector Error Correction Model (VECM) with the observation period of 2009–2018, this study aims to analyze the effects of financial inclusion and fintech on effectiveness of the Indonesian monetary policy within the framework of the transmission mechanism of monetary policy through interest rate channel with both the cost of capital effect and the substitution effect. The results demonstrate that financial inclusion level affects inflation rate as a proxy of effectiveness of the Indonesian monetary policy, both in the short run and long run. However, the effect of shocks in financial inclusion on inflation is not permanent. Meanwhile, fintech only affects inflation rate in the short run. However, shocks in fintech affect the volatility of inflation rate is permanent both through the substitution effect and the cost of capital effect.
Birgitta Dian Saraswati Ghozali Maski David Kaluge Rachmad Kresna Sakti Copyright (c) 2020 The Author(s). A translated pre-determined survey on a sample of Jordanian academics was used. A total of 325 usable returns were collected for the analysis (i.e. a response rate of 84.6 percent). Structural equation model (SEM) using AMOS was implemented to obtain the best-fit model and to determine the role of job crafting as a potential mediator between empowering leadership and happiness at work. The results indicated no direct statistical effect for empowering leadership on happiness at work with an estimated value of 0.17 and a standard error of 0.073. The results also show that there was a significant statistical effect for empowering leadership on crafting and this effect was high with a value of 0.479 and a standard error of 0.040. Finally, the results revealed a direct effect for empowering leadership on happiness at work through the mediating role of job crafting. The study recommended that it is necessary for universities to offer new programs and workshops that improve the behaviors of empowering leadership in light of work conditions at various levels and to motivate job crafting to increase levels of happiness at work.
Mohammed Yasin Ghadi Khaled Salameh Almanaga'h Copyright (c) 2020 The Author(s). Our paper is focused on a necessity to find out the influence of human capital in providing innovative development and the formation of knowledge economy, to develop measures for its formation, accumulation, preservation, reproduction in order to increase national competitiveness at the world market. The foundation of the knowledge economy is productive knowledge and quality education that contribute to the intellectual capital embodiment into productive activities. A detailed analysis of the current state and problems of the education and science spheres has been carried out, international ratings have been analyzed and the place of Ukraine in them is determined in the article. An estimation of financial losses of the economy in connection with the outflow of students to study abroad is hold in the article. By using the trend modeling method we propose to estimate the effect of the predicted values of the components of innovation activity on the Global Innovation Index. Results show that Ukraine position in the Global Innovation Index rating will strengthen, which can testify, about the redistribution of financing of the innovation sphere in favor of private institutions and investors. The transition to a knowledge economy involves an understanding of the decisive influence of science, the latest technologies, innovations in the global economy, and enables the resource-oriented countries to leave this status and become a countries of high-tech and high skilled development, based on the transformation of knowledge into a source of value and the driving force of economic progress.
Olha Podra Nataliia Litvin Zinaida Zhyvko Marta Kopytko Liliia Kukharska Copyright (c) 2020 The Author(s). Today, corporate fraud is the most widespread form of economic crime in Ukraine and the world, which affects about 48% of domestic enterprises. The study attracted substantiated attention to the negative tendency towards the growth of economic crime in Ukraine, which in the end focuses on the fact that domestic business should apply a set of measures to withdraw part of the business from the “shadow economy”. As a result, such measures will help increase the attractiveness of Ukraine’s business investment. The study systematized and analyzed the progressive experience of developed countries, in the first place, the United States, in the fight against economic fraud. The study provides all grounds for asserting that it is quite feasible to achieve the tangible reduction of economic (financial) fraud with preventive measures (which is rather quick and effective). It is proved that the lack of aspirations of the enterprise management to overcome fraud leads to the formation of new money laundering schemes, and not control mechanisms – prevention of opportunities for committing fraud.
Karina Nazarova Viktoriia Mysiuk Volodimir Gordopolov Viktor Koval Irena Danilevičienė Copyright (c) 2020 The Author(s). Many studies on bankruptcy risk are more seen from the financial performance perspective. Studies on the risk of financial performance are good but it seems too late to detect the risk. So far, no research investigates some antecedents on the risk directly. It is commonly ended in financial performance. This study detects earlier the risk from antecedents of financial performance as an indicator of the risk. The study aims to investigate the effect of generic strategy, as well as productivity, on bankruptcy. The study is causality research. The population is 25 retail companies. With certain criteria, there are 17 companies as a sample. By using SEM and smart-PLS, it can be concluded that cost leadership affects both on productivity and the risk. Then, the differentiation strategy does not affect productivity, but it affects the risk. Furthermore, productivity is eligible as an intervening variable on the risk. Moreover, the strategy and productivity are good but not enough to detect the risk. Therefore, for detecting the risk possibility, it is needed a further research improvement for detecting the risk from a macro and micro perspective comprehensively.
Steph Subanidja Sri Wahyuni Melda Lestari Wilfridus B. A total of 120 respondents participated and the data were analyzed using structural equation modeling with Amos 20 software. The results show that the reputation system has a higher direct impact compared to the impacts mediated by trust. Therefore, in an effort to increase the buying interest, the sellers should increase their reputation in the reputation system represented in the list of feedback, review, and the badge level in Bukalapak. This research is conducted in 150 exporting-MSMEs samples in Central Java, Indonesia. The main analysis applied in this research is multiple regressions. The result shows that VRIO resources and capability, foreign market knowledge, and internationalization, significantly influenced production process improvement. It emphasizes that degree of internationalization only weakly influencing process improvement. The more important factors are internal factors like knowledge, resources, and capability. The result obtained can be used as the basis to develop the strategy of capability improvement for MSMEs in designing internationalization strategy. The strategy will closely relate to MSMEs’ process improvement to compete in international market. This research provides two contributions. First, the internationalization of handicraft MSMEs does not strongly define MSMEs production process improvement. Second, process improvement can be accelerated by gaining market knowledge and exploiting valuable, rare, inimitable, and organized resources and capabilities.
M. The main purpose of the paper is diagnosing determinants of technological innovativeness of enterprises that provide health tourism services. Two detailed objectives were laid down – specifically, an indication of these determinants in respect of the range and type of a technological innovation. The methods applied in the research are: Delphi method, comparative analysis, the range method and the standardised interview method. In order to indicate determinants the following research techniques were used: Kruskal - Wallis test, factor analysis, analysis of medium-rank test, Spearman’s rank order correlation test. The primary result is diagnosing determinants affecting technological innovativeness of the subjects under study which are: quality of endogenous human capital of the surveyed entities and inflow of external information. The research is of ground-breaking nature since until now, technological innovations in health tourism have not been described in economy literature. The results have an impact on the development of economics and management sciences, contributing to the development of innovation theory and enterprise management. Rapid growth of telecommunications is opening up the doors for many telecom players from Europe, Asia and other parts of the world, resulting in increased competition and tariff reductions. In the present competitive environment, the services perceived by the customers and their behavioural intentions play a pivotal role in the customer switching process among service providers. With the changing expectations of service quality, it becomes imperative to discover the gap between customer expectations and customer perception. In this context, the aim of the present study is to identify the existing gap between customer expectations and perceptions and investigate the relationship between post-experience perception of service quality and customers’ behavioural intentions. The data was collected from 500 customers in Delhi NCR, India. Paired sample t-test and multiple correlation analysis were performed. The results of the study points out the key areas wherein the service gaps are considerably high such as reliability and responsiveness. The customer behavioural intentions, such as “Complain to customer service if a problem occurs”, “Switch to another service provider” and “Reducing the usage with a particular service provider”, have shown a strong relationship with quality of service. The findings of the study confirm that the perceptions of customers regarding the quality of service received definitely have an impact on their behaviour.
Deepika Jhamb Amit Mittal Pankaj Sharma Copyright (c) 2020 The Author(s).
