Abstract

Airborne Laser Scanning or LIDAR (Light Detection and Ranging) lends new possibilities for the investigation of the terrain surface, especially elevation data, also buildings and other objects modelling. In the article, the technological analysis of this new method, its application possibilities and efficiency are presented. The sources of errors and accuracy are analysed too. When scanning operating altitude is approx 1000 m, the real horizontal accuracy is ± 30–50 cm, vertical – ±10–30 cm. The Airborne Laser Scanning method is compared with the aerial photographic survey. It is maintained that a vertical survey produced by laser scanning in the areas of forest lands and buildings is accurate and very effective. However, the horizontal aerial photogrammetric survey is more accurate and of a better quality. It is recommended to produce orthophoto maps for topographic needs to carry out the scanning with a jointly fited digital camera. It is pointed out that in Lithuania the airborne laser scanning is possible to apply effectively for large scale maps especially of wooded areas, in forestry and up to date vertical survey and for creation 3-D city models to satisfy GIS purposes.

Žemės paviršiaus skenavimo lazeriu iš orlaivio technologijos analizė

Santrauka.
