The methodology for calculating book backbones

Abstract

The article describes the methods of calculating the width of book back. One of the calculation methods used in the printing house was tested. On the basis of the experimental data, the calculation formula is proposed. Due to negative results, the first formula was corrected adding a coefficient evaluating the thickness of the paper which enables to increase calculation accuracy and the results of calculation match with technological requirements. The corrected formula was tested using two methods concerning the measurements of paper thickness. The application of the calculation formula of the developed width of book back was approved experimentally on 72 backs of the book and can be recommended for use in printing houses.

Kietviršių nugarėlių pločio skaičiavimo metodika

Santrauka. Nagrinėjami knygų nugarėlių matmenų skaičiavimo metodai. Patikrinta vienoje iš spaustuvių taikyta nugarėlių skaičiavimo metodika. Remiantis eksperimentiniais duomenimis, pasiūlyta skaičiavimo formulė. Negavus teigiamo rezultato, galimo taikyti visiems knygų blokams, formulė pakoreguota nustatant koeficientą, pagal kurį vertinamas popieriaus storis, siūlų, klijų ir sąsiuvinių skaičius (pagal jį tikslinami rezultatai iki reikiamų technologiniam procesui vykti). Koreguota formulė patikrinta taikant du popieriaus storio matavimo metodus. Siūloma knygų nugarėlių skaičiavimo formulė išbandyta eksperimentiškai skaičiuojant 72 knygų nugarėles ir rekomenduojama taikyti spaustuvėse.

Reikšminiai žodžiai: kietas įrišimas, minkštas įrišimas, knygos nugarėlė.
